During my sewing course we were taught to make lots of things, the Lampshade I made was my first and my favourite.
Very time consuming, hundreds of needles are needed, meaning lots of pain in your fingers, as you slowly piece it together.
I used 2 Vintage 1970’s Corderoy flowery long skirts and chose a boxy hexagon style frame. The lining is also made from recycled sheets. And the header from recycled offcuts
I still have enough of each skirt left to make another lampshade, so I will have a pair.
The trim is made from recycled glass cut and plastic beads and a few buttons, on fishing wire, from old necklaces and bracelets, The lamp stand, was bought from a charity shop is made of marble, with an energy bulb and the light shines through beautifully.
Made from all the beautiful bits I inherited from my Mother.
