I made these from the off cuts and left overs of Velvet from the cushions I made last year.
I wanted a plush and full look, and I added Gold and Red fabric that I found in a scrap box in a fabric shop, to add a bit of glamour and vibrance.
The sun beams in through this window, and I chose a thin lining for these that are light, as I wanted the light to shine through.
The lining is from my Nan’s old Yellow Velvet curtains from her dining room in the guest house, and I have used some in these curtains too, Honouring my grandmother and all she did for me.
I wanted the hallway to have some natural light, even when they are closed.
The hallway is the coldest part of the house, so I made these extra long and much wider than needed for such a small window, as I am desperately trying to make my house stay warm
These took me a day and a quarter to make. Sewing with different types of velvet together isn’t that easy it seems
